Occupy Congress Jan 17th

It’s time for the American people to send a message to Congress. Ordinary citizens are not being represented by their elected leaders. On Jan 17th 2012, thousands of Americans will arrive in Washington DC and Occupy Congress. We have no affiliation with any Political Party, Union or Political Organization. We are individuals organizing ourselves to send a strong message to our elected leaders…”We have had it with your inability to govern and we are coming to confront you in person!” Peacefully.

We are coming because of the corruption.
We are coming because of the bribery.
We are coming to remind congress that they work for the people.

      The non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics lists the top 140 organizations who contribute to political campaigns for the past twelve years. Out of the top 20 organizations, 13 were unions, so it is not just corporations who are the problem. If you don’t believe me, here is the link:

    My mother died on January 10. She was 87. In 1968, she joined Dr King’s Poor People’s Campaign as a photojournalist and camped out on the Mall with other protesters from all walks of life. Some of her photos are in the Smithsonian. She believed the Occupy movement would go down in history as one of the most significant protests against war and government corruption of this century. She was also a supporter of WikiLeaks and applauded Bradley Manning’s actions in getting the truth out to the people. As a WWII Marine veteran, she remembered the oath she took when she enlisted and was outraged by PFC Manning’s mistreatment at Quantico by Marine officers and President Obama.

    Mom’s only regret was that she was unable to participate in the occupation due to her illness. Shortly before she died, I told her I was returning to DC for the Day of Action Against Guantanamo and Occupy Congress. She asked me to tell everyone that she would be with us in spirit, so I am. Countless people are unable to join us physically but are with us in other important ways. Each of us who can occupy and attend these protests represents hundreds if not thousands of others. We’re surrounded by good spirits who support what we are doing. Many occupiers, religious or not, have said they feel their presence. Love and peace.

ENDLESS WARS: Obama’s the top beneficiary of weapons dealers, was lobbied by general Atomic (http://bit.ly/tWt4yi) and thus increased use of drones with military spending increased in 2009, 10 and still spends 200 billion dollars more per year than Bush’s average military spending (http://bit.ly/tRrGOL); He also funded children armies in Congo and Yemen (http://abcn.ws/vnuXYF) and invaded Libya without congressional approval that ended up helping Al Quada with drone attacks that are known to have severe collateral damage (http://bit.ly/sb40NX, http://bit.ly/uIbA7A)
