Occupy: A Celebration of American Liberty

I speak only for myself, and not for the Occupy movement.  My opinions are my own, and I am not a representative of any organization with these words.  I am an an American citizen, and I love my country.

All 300 million of us Occupy America.  We occupy her streets, her malls, her grocery stores, and her interweb.  For those of us in cities, we have learned how to exist together symbiotically, and Occupy Together.  Each of us has the opportunity to become specialized, from the banker to the poet.  Some of us choose to Occupy Government, Commerce, or various media.  Non-violent protest in public space is one of the hallmarks of the last century of American history, and one of our most sacred and valued American freedoms.

We cherish that we live in America, and we choose to exercise our freedoms in celebration of our liberty.  In many places in the world today, people cannot organize or Occupy safely.  We have no desire to bring fear or terror to any American, we simply ask that the individuals in our Government preserve the blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our Posterity.  We are committed that our Federal, State and Municipal governments have the consent of the governed.  We Occupy on the premise that in America we are free to peaceably assemble, and we are allowed to Petition our Government for the Redress of Grievances.

History will remember what happens here, and the eyes of the world are upon us.  The Occupy movement is filled with American patriots, and we do not understand why we are being considered a threat by our United States Government.  We are performing our civic duty as Americans. The Founders encouraged us to question our government, and shake things up now and again.  Historical precedents suggest our actions will help ensure that America of 2060 is greater than America today.  Occupiers emulate the grand history of American Liberty and Justice Movements.  We are not a new idea; we are upgraded for the 21st century.

We know our history.  We Occupy in the shadow of those who died for the possibility of America, and with the courage of our Founders and ancestors in the threats they faced for our freedom.  We of the various Occupy movements want the legacy of American freedom and prosperity for all Americans.  And we want it peacefully, transparently, and with dignity.

Dec 2011 polls indicate that somewhere between 70-85% of Americans disapprove of Congress’ job performance.  Congress works for the American people, and we are your shareholders.  Regardless of how uncomfortable the notion may be, we want a public dialogue about what is happening in America, and how we can provide a brighter future to the children of tomorrow.  We ask our government officials to protect our Unalienable Rights.  We ask for a new and Humane Justice.  If 3/4 of America is dissatisfied with Congress, then we are not a fringe element.  We are a voice of majority.

We have focused much of our Occupied energies on making sure we are civilized, responsible, and sanitary.  We Occupy with the intention of seeing America prosper.  We do not want to live in Terror any more; we want Liberty and Justice for all.  We do not want to fear the police around us; we want to know they are there to protect us.  We can end the War on Terror today by ending fear of each other.  We have nothing to fear but Terror itself.  We have the rights of Justice, Domestic Tranquility, General Welfare, and Common Defense.  And those rights are Unalienable.

We can transform America and change the world without violence and without incarceration.  We can have humane Justice, super rich people, and a robust infrastructure simultaneously.  We have the technology and the intelligence.

To the members of Congress and their Staff, you are already Occupying Congress.  We assume you love this country, and you are proud to be American citizens.  We are some of those you swore your life to protect.  We ask you to honor the memory of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and King.  We ask you to honor the sacrifice of the millions who have perished in the name of American freedom.  We ask you to share our Capital and your time with us.  Occupy Congress will be honored to have any current member of Congress address Occupy Congress events, and have your voice amplified through our human microphone.  We are bringing our movement to you so that you can participate in it. We do not ask you to endorse us, we simply invite you to share with us how it’s been for you.  And we, like you, are committed that our time in Washington is respectful, safe, and sanitary.

Our nation has been forged through various social revolutions and crimes against humanity.  We shall overcome.  We ask all Americans who desire a bright future for our country to join us.  Occupy Congress.  Occupy the Courts.  Occupy the Phones.  Occupy the Internet.  Occupy America.  Educate Yourself.  Our names may be lost to antiquity, and our flesh surely to dust.  The choices we make as a nation will dictate the future of our country, and the course of the world for at least the next few decades.  Now is the time for all of us to ask not what America can do for us, but what we can do for our country.  While we Occupy, American freedom is on public display for the world to see.  Let’s show off why we are the greatest social experiment in the world, and claim the legacy of American Freedom.

    This project is VERY new – but so was Occupy not the long ago. WE the PEOPLE are making history and we should take seriously the need to build our own searchable history database now, while the memories are still fresh in our minds and the documentation is still easily accessed.

    Those people who oppose this movement, disregard its’ importance and invent lies about the occupiers are those people who have the most power to lose. I can honestly say that I am in agreement with 99% of this Declaration. I know that the time has come for the People to petition the government for redress and to make much needed Amendments to the US Constitution. With tears of joy, I read this Declaration and I am filled with hope and a sense of anticipation for the New Year 2012. Thank you for all that you have done and may you all have the strength to continue on in this mountainous endeavor.

    I just went to the Wiki. What exactly are the demands that are going to be presented to the Senate on the 23rd, who is formulating them, when, and how?

    I certainly hope that these demands do not:
    1) Call for the government to spend more than it takes in,
    2) Violate the laws of mathematics,
    3) Violate the laws of thermodynamics.

    Unfortunately, the press has torn apart both the original Tea Party (so that the term is now meaningless, the same way “terrorists” is now meaningless) and the Occupy Wall Street movements. Personally, I think OWS has been all over the map. The demands of Occupy Congress must be very sharp and very targeted.

Thomas Jefferson has been quoted as saying “Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government.” , “The price of liberty is constant vigilance.”, “Every generation needs a new revolution.”, “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. This man & others who formed this great Nation made it very clear that as Americans we must stand up as one voice & challenge those who threaten our rights & our freedom. One Nation Undivided With Liberty And Justice For All!.

      Now you know why Texas has removed Thomas Jefferson from it’s curriculum and the textbooks that they hope will reach all states (likely ) since Texas is the largest purchaser of Textbooks in the nation! Check out TFN (Texas Freedom Network) that has been fighting to prevent the removal of the most important Americans (especially people of color) and their ideas from our children’s education.     I like for our thinkers and leaders of the movement offer and debate a concrete path to the success of the movement though I am not an expert in democracy I is not difficult to see that our election system is not democtratic at all.Here some questions I have 1–why not think of a way to make vote of every American count? 2-why don’t we have a law that asks every american to vote what is stopping us? who and what forces are against that then we know who and what the enemy of democracy is.3-Why the judges in the supreme court are appointed for life? what is democratic about that?4-the electoral college system is not democratic our vote as individual don’t count.5-This is none sense that we have only a few states that is going to determine the outcome of our election. why our representative and media and or any other think tang or democratic organization do not discuss these vital and crucial matters please forgive my gramatical shortcoming ,english is my second language.

    I wish to express A concern that I have been feeling ever since studying up on the NDAA. To all of those who plan to Occupy The Senate. Please be careful, be AWARE of those around you, & be cautious. I have the fear that “moles” or “plants” will try to turn this into a violent protest as A means to harm or discredit the Occupy movement. And because the NDAA is in affect, protesters are now classified as “Low Level Terrorists”. So watch your backs & be safe!

    2012 is the year of the people. Liberty is rising. The traitors will answer for their crimes.

    We the people will abolish this government.

    We the people will institute a new government.

    We will provide new guards for our Future Security.

    It is our Right and our Duty.

    Not an occupier, and I live on the other side of the country, but I am thinking about coming.
